THURSDAY

Open Mic Night/Jam Session

May 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton branch: This popular event returns to the Acton Legion tonight. Everyone is welcome to come out and jam or simply listen and enjoy. No fees or membership required.

FRIDAY

Drop-in Family Story Time

May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Gellert Centre, Georgetown: Join the Halton Hills Public Library staff in exploring new themes each week through stories, rhymes, and songs. No registration is required.

Karaoke Night

May 10 at 7 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton branch: Join the Acton Legion crew to have some fun while singing your heart out. The event is open to everyone - no membership required.

SATURDAY

Get Ready for Summer event

May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethel Church, Acton: Learn more about budget-friendly options happening in the community this summer. There will be free bikes, complimentary coffee/tea, visits from a fire truck and police cruiser, a free hot dog lunch and more. Don't forget to bring new underwear donations for the ‘Drop Your Drawers’ drive, along with non-perishable food items, both in support of the Roxy Centre.

Mother’s Day Brunch

May 11 at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church, 60 Guelph St., Georgetown: The Lions Club of Georgetown and St. George’s Anglican Church are teaming up to host a Mother’s Day brunch to benefit Halton Women’s Place.

There will be two sittings, a breakfast from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and a brunch from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. The breakfast will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juice. The brunch will include French toast, pancakes, peameal bacon, sausage, eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juice.

The cost is $15 per adult and $10 per child ages three to 12. It's free for children under the age of 3. For more information or tickets, email [email protected] or call 289-890-0892.

The Mom Market

May 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Georgetown Market Place: Join the Mom Market Collective Halton for its Mother’s Day edition event. There will be a variety of vendors, hair braiding, a flower wall for photos and a Mother’s Day grand prize draw.

Mother's Day Children's Market

May 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Williams Mill Creative Arts Studios parking lot, Glen Williams: Shop from local young entrepreneurs, who will be offering a variety of handmade products such as jewelry, baked goods, accessories, crochet, books, paintings, natural healthcare products, woodworking and more.

Music in the Gallery

May 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Helson Gallery, inside the Halton Hills Cultural Centre, Georgetown: Enjoy free musical entertainment by Barry Mulcahy while perusing the artwork on display.

Mulcahy is an accomplished singer/songwriter/performer who delivers an interesting blend of North American and Irish, folk and contemporary music. He performs original songs and also covers by artists such as Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell and Gordon Lightfoot.

ALL WEEKEND

Frozen Jr.

May 10 to 12 at the John Elliott Theatre, Georgetown: Globe Productions is bringing its version of the Disney hit movie to the local stage. Shows will run on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., along with Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.
