After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the Acton Fire Fighters Association is ready to wow local residents again with its Canada Day fireworks show.
The popular event returns to Prospect Park at 9:30 p.m. on July 1, and fireworks committee chair Al Scott says there’ll be a few extra surprises this year with some of the pyrotechnics.
“We’re looking forward to another great show,” he said. “It’s been a long time coming.”
This year marks half a century of the local association hosting the large fireworks display, which draws crowds from Halton Hills and surrounding communities to watch the sky light up over Fairy Lake.
With this in mind, Scott noted that “social distancing is still a good idea” as people gather to enjoy the festivities.
The show operates on donations from the community, and Scott reports that contributions are already rolling in quickly.
“We’ve had an amazing response from not only businesses, but also local community members,” he said. “I’m quite impressed.”
Those who would like to contribute can contact Scott at 905-749-6147 or [email protected].
As always, donations can also be given to firefighters in person on July 1 at the event.
