Get that spending money ready.

The Acton BIA is hosting its first Cash Mob - an event that encourages the community to turn out and support a specific local business with purchases at a set time.

The inaugural mob will take place at Farm to Paw pet supply store on August 12 at 4 p.m. There will be light refreshments served outside the shop for those participating.

“This is an opportunity for people to either support a business they normally support, or try out a business they haven’t had a chance to experience yet,” said Acton BIA co-ordinator Alex Hilson. “It’s a great opportunity to get together and build some community around it too.”

The Cash Mob concept has been gaining popularity in nearby communities, like Milton, which began hosting similar events earlier in the pandemic to give small businesses a much-needed boost.

If Acton’s first Cash Mob goes well, Hilson said he thinks there’ll be a desire to organize more mob events in the future.

“There’s been a lot of positive feedback so far - a lot of excitement,” he noted.

Farm to Paw is located at 14 Main St. S., Acton.
