There’s still time to apply for help or make a contribution to Links2Care’s backpack program.

The annual initiative ensures local students in need go back to school with all of the essentials.

Families with students in any grade from junior kindergarten to grade 12 that would like to receive supplies can download an application form at links2care.ca or pick one up at Links2Care’s offices, located at 69 Acton Blvd., Acton and 360 Guelph St., Georgetown.

Deadline is tomorrow (August 12).

Meanwhile, school supply donations are being accepted until August 19 and can be dropped off at the aforementioned addresses or in the centre court at Georgetown Market Place.

Needed items include new: backpacks (for older students), small binders, spiral notebooks, paper, report covers, lunch bags, pencil cases with three rings, pencils, pens, highlighters, crayons, pencil crayons, markers, glue sticks, erasers, rulers, scissors, white glue, geometry sets and calculators.

According to Links2Care, the program not only helps lower-income students start off the school year on the right foot, but parents’ financial and emotional stress is also alleviated as they avoid dipping into rent or food budgets to ensure their children have the tools they need to succeed.

Those wishing to make a financial donation can do so at links2care.ca/donate.
