Rory Nisan has been re-elected to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ board of directors for 2023-2024.

Burlington’s Ward 3 councillor will also serve as chair of the Ontario Caucus.

This is Nisan’s fifth term representing Halton Region at the FCM, which helps municipalities across the country advocate their needs in federal policies.

Since then, he’s prioritized issues such as affordable and assisted housing, rural broadband infrastructure, climate change mitigation and adaptation and increased municipal infrastructure funding.

In a news release, Nisan said he looks forward to continuing important work that will impact many living in Halton.

“Working alongside my board colleagues, I will continue to advance local solutions to the national challenges facing municipalities across the country,” he stated.

Regional Chair Gary Carr congratulated Nisan on his new positions, adding it’s “critical" that Halton municipalities have a strong voice at the federation.

“Rory’s dedication to advocating for change on priority issues impacting Halton residents has been essential,” Carr said.

Nisan is also serving as vice president at large for the board of directors for the rest of the 2022-2023 term.
