It’s the busiest weekend yet this summer, with many events happening in Halton Hills and the surrounding area

The Leathertown Festival is happening in Acton this Sunday.

FRIDAY

Georgetown Cruise Night, August 12 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. in the Mold-Masters SportsPlex parking lot: Check out classic and specialty vehicles while enjoying rock and roll music and great company. There will also be tasty treats and door prizes. The weekly event, organized and operated by volunteers, raises funds for the Georgetown Hospital Foundation.

SATURDAY

Georgetown Farmers’ Market, August 13 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in downtown Georgetown: Shop every Saturday morning from a mix of vendors that offer farm produce, culturally diverse food and products, hand-crafted jewelry, soaps, candles and more. Be sure to stop by the HaltonHillsToday booth to meet our team and enter a draw for a chance to win a gift card for The Cellar restaurant.

Bike Exchange at Bethel Church Acton, August 13 from 9 to 11 a.m.: Bethel Church is hosting its first annual bike exchange. The event will offer up free used bikes in ready-to-ride condition for children aged three to eight. The church is also accepting donations of used children’s bikes. Outdoor Book and Puzzle Fundraiser, August 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hillsview Active Living Centre, located at the Acton Arena: Shop from a variety of books and puzzles while also enjoying a hamburger or hotdog from the barbecue (food available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.). This is a cash-only event.

Free dairy sheep farm tour, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: OVINO Farm and Dairy, located on 25 Sideroad just outside Acton, is providing tours at no cost. Those who come by will get to visit the lambs in the nursery. After that, you can view (through large glass doors) a rotary milking parlour where up to 1,000 ewes can be milked per hour, and the milk processing facility where artisan cheese, yogurt and more are made on site. Drop-in Family Story Time at the Halton Hills Public Library, Georgetown and Acton branches, August 13 at 10 a.m.: Explore new themes each week through stories, rhymes, and songs. No registration is required. 


SUNDAY

Leathertown Festival, August 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Acton: The popular free event will take over the downtown core all day long with live music, a variety of foods to feast on, over 130 vendors, a car show, motorcycle meet up and more.

The Halton Hill Bike It Committee is holding a Bike It To The Leathertown Festival event, which encourages local residents to cycle to the festival and includes free secure valet bike parking in the Acton GO station parking lot.

Italia Fest Fundraiser, August 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 104 Tremaine Rd., Milton: Italia Fest is an outdoor family festival and fundraiser that celebrates Italian and heritage in Canada with Italians and all other cultures alike through food, dance, music, fun, and a sense of community. The event will raise funds for the Townsend Smith Foundation and the Italian Cultural Centre of Milton Building Fund. Visit www.iccm.ca to purchase tickets.

Kids Gala and Magic Show, August 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Granite Ridge Golf Club, Milton: The fundraiser event will include Hot Wheels car racing, Legoland Discovery Centre Toronto exhibit, Tinkerlab activity, puppeteers, face/body painting, an exotic animal exhibit and more.

Funds raised will go to Campfire Circle (formerly Camp Ooch/Trillium - a camp for kids with cancer). Email [email protected] for tickets - $45 for kids and $65 for adults.

Lego Days at the Halton Hills Public Library, Georgetown branch, August 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.: Stop by the library and let your creativity soar. This free drop-in program is open for children and their caregivers of all ages to play and build with the library's Lego.

S’mores and Backyard Bonfire, August 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chudleigh’s Entertainment Farm: Celebrate the weekend with s'mores at Chudleigh’s Backyard Bonfire. Drop in at any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to sit around the fire and enjoy a toasty treat. S'mores kits will be available for purchase at The Market while supplies last.
