Tickets are available for a special evening that will celebrate the Rotary Club of Acton’s Citizen of the Year.
Mike Albano will be honoured Oct. 8 at Acton Town Hall Centre, with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m., then awards.
The active volunteer and local councillor was selected by a committee consisting of three former citizens of the year, who the club says “carefully reviewed several worthy candidate submissions, all of whom would have been excellent choices to receive the honour.”
Albano has spent many years serving with local organizations like the Acton Lions Club, Acton Fall Fair, Acton Terry Fox Run Committee, Acton Community Garden and Acton Foodshare.
As one nominator wrote, "He is such a great asset and so very humble. Never takes the credit for himself, he is the first to give the credit to other volunteers for a job well done."
