The Georgetown Hospital has received a funding boost from those who give back to the facility all year long.

The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA) recently presented the hospital with a cheque for $60,000, which was raised through revenue generated from the gift shop, 50/50 draws and other community events.

“This year’s cheque for $60,000 demonstrates the unwavering commitment and generosity of all of our volunteers," said Janet Skupsky, interim chief operating officer at Georgetown Hospital. “Their dedicated service to the hospital truly enriches the patient experience.”

The GHVA has over 141 active volunteers and puts out calls for those who would like to get involved twice a year.

Applications to volunteer can be submitted online and will be accepted from July 1 to Aug. 12

During the general meeting, GHVA President Allan Welters stepped down after 10 years with the organization.

Marion Lookman is the newly-appointed president, while Allan continues on as past president.
