Georgetown Raider goalie Michael Newlove was solid in net, but came up on the losing end of a 3-0 (with empty netter) decision against Leamington Saturday.

It’s been a quiet start to December for the Georgetown Raiders – offensively speaking.

Now scoreless in their last five periods, the local juniors were blanked 3-0 by the OJHL front-running Leamington Flyers Saturday at Mold-Masters Sportsplex.

Georgetown has now dropped their last three contests after back-to-back shutout wins – each of those backstopped by Michael Newlove.

He and Leamington cager Marcus Vandenberg were flawless for two periods Saturday – each turning back 21 shots – before Colton Smith scored his league-leading 33rd of the season on a five-on-three advantage.

The Flyers would add some insurance down the stretch, with an empty netter by Smith putting things out of reach. It was his eighth multi-goal game of the season.

Now sitting at 14-11-2-3, the Raiders will look to get back on track this Wednesday (Dec. 11) when they host the Niagara Falls Thunder. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
