Georgetown’s Hayley Pasma is making a name for herself in the American softball world.

The local young woman was recently chosen as the 2023 All-American Athlete of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

“This award recognizes Pasma’s athletic accomplishments and her dedication to strength and conditioning,” said the NSCA in a press release.

“Nominated by Coach Alexa Garcia of Barry University, Pasma’s determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence is a great model for all student athletes at Barry.”

Coach Garcia said upon Pasma’s arrival at Barry University, she knew the local softball player was “something special.”

“She hands down came in as a leader, both on the field and in the weight room. No matter novice or veteran, the team looks to Hayley for leadership,” she said.

“Academically, all her teachers rave about her drive and pursuit of excellence in her studies. Hayley is the definition of NSCA All-American.”

Pasma is pursuing a master's degree in human performance and wellness at Barry University.

The NSCA is a non-profit association dedicated to advancing the strength and conditioning and related sport science professions around the world.
