Halton Regional Police have made an arrest and laid charges in relation to an arson investigation in Milton.
The charges stem back to an Oct. 2 incident, when police attended a fire in a parking lot on Bronte Street North around 4 a.m.
Police say a semi-trailer truck was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. The fire was extinguished by Milton Fire and Rescue Services.
According to police, an investigation determined the fire to be an act of arson. Police say gasoline was also found to be poured over other semi-trailer trucks parked in the lot, but they were not set on fire. In addition, a pickup truck parked next to the semi-trailer truck set on fire was damaged.
On Nov. 12, police arrested a 31-year-old Brampton man. At that time, police also executed a search warrant at a residence in Brampton.
Kumar Vinit has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of mischief over $5,000.
