Pedestrian struck by car in life-threatening condition

Halton Regional Police are seeking information from the public after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Acton on Thursday evening (June 23).


The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Eastern Avenue near York Street, where police say the local resident was struck while crossing the road.


“The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to the regional trauma centre at Hamilton General Hospital to receive emergency medical treatment for life-threatening injuries,” police said in a press release issued early this morning. “The motorist, also a local adult resident, remained at the scene and co-operated with the police investigation.”


The road was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident who hasn’t yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747, ext: 5065.
