Firefighters battle pickup truck blaze in north Georgetown

Nobody was home at the time of the incident and there are no injuries

The Halton Hills Fire Department is investigating a blaze that destroyed a pickup truck in north Georgetown this afternoon.

Firefighters, police and EMS responded to a call for the vehicle fire at a home in the area of Atwood Avenue and Mowat Crescent shortly after 2 p.m.

Nobody was home at the time of the incident and there are no injuries.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known, but preliminary information from the scene indicates it may have been electrical.

The size of the flames from the black GMC Sierra were large enough to do some damage to the home, prompting firefighters to remove a section of the portico.

Local youngsters called 911 when they noticed the flames.
