HaltonHillsToday received the following letter from reader Aditee Goswami regarding the mayor's levee held Wednesday evening (Jan. 10) at the Halton Hills Cultural Centre.

Being part of the Halton Hills 50th anniversary celebration at the Cultural Centre was a delightful experience. The event was truly grand, with the choir and chorus band delivering amazing performances. Interacting with former mayors and learning about their achievements during their terms was a highlight. Each of them exuded happiness and pride as Mayor Ann Lawlor prompted them to share their experiences.

The lobby was bustling with our town's wonderful residents, many of whom have been living here for more than half a century. A heartfelt thanks to all the contributors who put in effort to provide delicious refreshments. Mayor Ann Lawlor's energetic spirit, always accompanied by a beautiful smile, added to the positive atmosphere.

A special mention goes to our present councillors who consistently work for the community's benefit, making our town an amazing place to live. The trumpet player deserves a round of applause for playing a prolonged tune as our present and former mayors entered the JET for further discussions on the town's history.

Mark Rowe's presentation on the town's history was truly wonderful, offering insights from its beginnings. His message to newly-moved residents resonated deeply – preserving our heritage is crucial. After learning about the hard work and contributions of many, I wholeheartedly agree with Mark; it's our duty to safeguard our community's heritage and assets.

Congratulations to all past and present members of Halton Hills Council for completing 50 successful years. Here's to preserving and cherishing our community's history for generations to come.
