Attention all gearheads! Gas up your tanks and roll back your roofs as the countdown to the 2024 Georgetown Cruise Night is about to hit zero.

The popular event returns to the Mold-Masters SportsPlex parking lot Friday (May 24) from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

It's the second year that Cruise Night is running under the ownership of Grammie’s Recycling Store, a local spot for treasure hunters. Owner Pat Bonozew and her team took over the high-octane festival in March 2023 from previous organizers Mike and Allison Farrugia.

Bonozew has picked up a few lessons since then.

“I learned that I love old cars,” said Bonozew, a former race car driver. “If I maybe had the time and the money, I would go back to buying a 1976 [Oldsmobile] Delta 88. Or maybe I would go and buy one of those old police cars and redo it."

One of the new things introduced by Grammie’s in their debut year was funding for local students who want to go into the automotive sector. This year, two lucky students will be supported.

“If we can help the kids in any way, we will,” noted Bonozew.

Grammie’s will be accepting donations to Cruise Night, which will give grants to the students to help them realize their dreams in the automotive trades.

The Optimist Club of Halton Hills will also be at the weekly event selling tickets for a 50/50 draw, with half the proceeds funding other programs that benefit kids.

Anyone who wants to donate to, or sponsor, Cruise Night can contact Bonozew at [email protected].

Cruise Night will continue every Friday until the end of August.
