Egg hunts, the Walk of the Cross and an Easter market are among the events happening in Halton Hills and the surrounding area this long weekend

FRIDAY

Walk of the Cross

March 29 at 5:15 p.m. starting at Churchill Community Church, Acton: The Acton Ministerial is hosting the Walk of the Cross on Good Friday. Everyone will meet at Churchill Community Church at 5 p.m. and the walk starts at 5:15pm.

There will be opportunities to stop and pray at white crosses along the route, ending at Trinity United Church with a worship service at 7 p.m. followed by coffee/tea and hot cross buns).

SATURDAY

Free Easter Egg Hunt

March 30 starting at 10 a.m. at Georgetown Chrysler, 336 Guelph St.: Join the Georgetown Chrysler team for their first annual Easter egg hunt. Timeslots are available at 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. for children aged two to eight.

Learn, Play, Grow

March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Halton Hills Public Library, Georgetown and Acton branches:  Drop in at your nearest library branch for Learn, Play, and Grow. A new theme is explored each week with activities that promote positive child development.
This drop-in program is geared to children up to age five and their caregivers.

Easter and Holi Celebration

March 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Norval United Church, 14015 Danby Road, Georgetown: Enjoy an egg hunt, crafts, a colour run, and lots of fun. Delicious food options will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family and can be obtained by emailing [email protected] or calling 647-871-3551.

Proceeds will be donated to the Georgetown Hospital.

Easter Market

March 30 from 12 to 3 p.m. at St. Elias Ukrainian Catholic Church, 10193 Heritage Rd.: Come shop for homemade and hand-decorated Easter breads and Ukrainian Easter eggs, perogies, cabbage rolls, gifts and Ukrainian embroidery. There will also be a lunch cafe and church tours.

ALL WEEKEND

Easter in Alton

March 30 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alton Legion: Meet the Easter Bunny and receive a treat, have your face painted and bounce on the huge bouncy castle/slide combination.

Miller’s Meat will be serving up tasty meals, and there’ll also be shortbread, baked goods and beverages at the Legion bar.
