Pierre, a one-year-old Chinese crested was found at a local car dealership. He has found a new home and is now receiving medical treatment.

It’s been just a week since Andie Field took in Pierre, but the Chinese crested puppy is now climbing up in her bed at night.

It’s a big step for the little guy, who was found almost two weeks ago under a car in the back parking lot at Georgetown KIA.

“He’s still a bit nervous, but I have another small dog and they’ve become best buds,” Field said.

A KIA employee took Pierre home while they searched for the owner. Pierre had no microchip or tattoo to identify him, and despite several Facebook posts, no one reported missing a dog.

The employee was not able to keep Pierre, though. Field knew her, and having two hairless cats, she was familiar with caring for hairless animals and had all the washes needed.

The local woman decided to take Pierre in, and though he was shy at first, he is settling in and playing and cuddling with Field.

“He’s such a good dog,” she said. “I really did get lucky. He’s house trained, he sleeps through the night."

Pierre has come with a financial cost though. Field took him for a full health check, which found that he had three types of worms that required treatment. Once that treatment is finished he will have his immunizations and get neutered. The vet estimated he's about one year old.

To help with the cost of his medical treatments, Field has started a GoFundMe. She also launched a raffle with more than $2,000 in prizes from local businesses, with each $10 donation, including previous donations, receiving an entry.

“This town is so amazing,” she said.
