Man pulls knife while attempting to steal groceries from Georgetown Walmart

Halton Police say a man pulled a knife while attempting to steal groceries from the Georgetown Walmart.

Halton Police are investigating after a man attempting to leave Georgetown Walmart without paying for his groceries lunged at a customer and pulled a knife before fleeing.

Halton Police say that a man leaving the store with a cart full of groceries valued at approximately $350 was asked to produce his receipt by a store employee. The man refused to stop and continued out of the store. The employee called out after him. 

Police say a customer entering the store, not realizing why the employee was calling out, attempted to stop the man to let him know the store employee was trying to get his attention.

Police say the suspect lunged at the customer and removed a knife from his belt, before fleeing from the store without the cart. 

The suspect is described as male, white, approximately 5-foot-7, slim build, 40-50 years old. No arrests have been made.
