Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites rural landowners to attend the Prepare your Property for Climate Change Bus Tour on Saturday, June 1, 2024. The tour runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Warwick Conservation Centre, 15526 Heart Lake Road, Caledon.

“Get inspired by landowners who are improving soil, water quality and wildlife habitat on their properties,” said Kate Hayes, Senior Manager, Ecosystem Restoration and Management at CVC. “Participants will learn about projects that will help manage climate risks like flooding and extreme weather, as well as funding opportunities.”

The bus tour will showcase three local Caledon properties with stunning examples of stewardship projects in action. Projects include restoring grasslands, improving streams and wetlands, tree planting and forest management.

Participants will learn about natural features, see examples of how they are impacted by climate change, and learn what they can do to build resilience and protect their property.

“The Town of Caledon is pleased to be supporting this event through the Climate Action Fund,” said Rita Juliao, Acting Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works, Town of Caledon. “In our Resilient Caledon Climate Change Action Plan, we commit to enhancing climate resiliency and educating the community on the impacts of climate change. We commend Credit Valley Conservation for this innovative project, their commitment to the environment and for helping Caledon reach its climate goals.”

The bus tour is intended for rural landowners in the Credit River Watershed. Search for your address on our Watershed Look-up Map tool to determine if your property is in the watershed.

This is a free event funded by the Caledon Climate Action Fund. Registration is required by May 30. Space is limited. Register at cvc.ca/RuralEvents.
