Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Halton Hills and the surrounding area.
The federal agency says its meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm this evening (Aug. 3) capable of producing wind gusts up to 90 km/h and heavy rain, and cautions that a tornado is also possible.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” says the warning. “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.”
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that residents take cover immediately when threatening weather approaches.
