The Canada Day fireworks in Prospect Park always draw a huge crowd.

While concerns have been swirling that the fireworks show in Acton will be cancelled tonight - at least partially due to a burn ban that was in effect yesterday - the Acton Firefighters Association says the show will be proceeding as planned.

“We have been receiving messages that people have heard that our show has been cancelled,” the association said on Facebook. “We can confirm this is not the case our show is a go for tonight.”

A burn ban was triggered yesterday by high levels of air pollution from forest fires. At that time, the Town of Halton Hills indicated on social media that the ban would also apply to private and public fireworks.

But as of this morning, the ban was lifted.

The fireworks will be on display at Prospect Park tonight starting at dusk (between 9:30 and 10 p.m.).
