Two men accused of break-in at Acton Shoppers caught in traffic stop

Police say the suspects, who were found in Georgetown, were also driving a stolen vehicle

Halton Police have charged two Etobicoke men following a break-in at Shoppers Drug Mart in Acton.

Two Etobicoke men are facing a slew of charges following a weekend break and enter at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Acton.

At approximately 4 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 25), police say two suspects used a hammer to break a window at the Queen Street store. Once inside, the suspects broke display cases and removed electronics and video games before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, according to police.

Ten minutes later, while responding to the break-in, Halton Police saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of Halton Hills Drive and Maple Avenue in Georgetown and conducted a traffic stop. Police say an investigation found the car had been stolen and that the occupants were the suspects from the break and enter in Acton. The driver was also determined to be impaired.

A 44-year-old man has been charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instrument, operation while impaired, possession of a controlled schedule 1 substance and fail to comply with a release order.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instrument and fail to comply with recognizance.
