On March 27, 2024, we lost our mom to cancer. We were there, with Dad, airing out some of the grievances that arise from being siblings. I chuckle now - what a way for a single-child to go out! She would laugh at us when we were young, shaking her head that she never understood our sibling antics as she’d never had a sibling to get up to shenanigans with.

Dad thinks if she could hear our conversation it was a good way to go - there was a lot of love in the room in the wee hours of the morning.

Mary Hutchison-Culp was a force, sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse hahaha We knew early on not to cross Mom, but we also knew as assuredly that when she set her mind to something, it wasn’t only as good as done, it was done perfectly (or not at all! 😉)

Cooking for her family, beautiful sewing projects, various arts and crafts over the years, her professional life, Church service, friendship… whatever Mom did she did with her whole self.

And since her whole self was this incredible force… the things she accomplished were equally incredible.

I believe, though, she would say her greatest achievements were related to our family; she came from a lonesome childhood rife with difficulty and she leaves her two “adult” 😉 children Rebecca & Jonathan (Kira), and four absolutely adored grandchildren, Oz, Darcy, Zoe, and Adrian.

The legacy that Ralph and Mary have built, the lives that they touched together, the brilliant way they could come together and lift up any and everyone in their paths… it’s been a beautiful thing to witness as their children.

Mom, it’s been less than 24 hours and we are already so broken without you. We love you, we miss you. We hope desperately to do more for the world of the brilliant goodness you have done.

Thank you for loving us. Always.

Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, April 3 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1624 Wanless Dr, Brampton, at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will take place following visitation at 11:00 a.m.

Should you desire, donations in Mary's memory to the Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (CASHH) are greatly appreciated.
