It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of João Pimentel, surrounded by family in his 90th year.
The middle child of five boys, João was born July 12th, 1933 in Agua de Pao, São Miguel, Aҫores. He emigrated to Canada in 1955 and later married the love of his life Maria Lourdes on September 15th, 1960.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Maria Lourdes Pimentel. Dearly missed by his children Joe (Marlene), John and Teresa (Chris). Lovingly remembered by his granddaughters Sara (Mike) and Nicole (Azael).
João was his family’s beloved patriarch. He was a loyal, strong and hardworking man. He moved to Canada for a better life where he worked various jobs before starting his own flooring business in Toronto. After settling his family in Georgetown, he became a staple of the town as a devoted city worker for 33 years until his retirement. He will forever be remembered for his love of gardening, wrestling, anything sweet, and most importantly, his family. He will be greatly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd, Georgetown, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Parish, 14400 Argyll Rd, Georgetown, at 10:30am on Friday, September 15, 2023, also the date of their wedding anniversary. Interment to follow at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
The family would also like to invite everyone for a time of celebration of life and reception following the Cemetery services. Details to come.
