Maria Antje (Rita) Verhey - Peacefully surrounded by her family on March 31, 2024 in her 96th year, wife of the late Arie (Harry) Verhey. A devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Loving Mom of Harry (Deb) Verhey, Conny (Andy) Sytsma, Lucy Verhey, John Verhey. Loved Grandma of Nikki (Jason), Michelle (Russ), Sara (Alex), Lauren (John), Brooke (Matt), Leah (Geoff), Joel, Michael, Jacob, and Ally. Great Grandma of 13 great grandchildren, Savannah, Chloe, Luke, Addison, Mackenzie, Isla, Paige, Jack, Max, Blaire, Joshua, Avery & Maddox.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, be it a game of Rummy or on the beach at Killbear or Citrus Park. She was a proud woman, always generous with her time, known for her sense of humour and remembered for her outspoken nature. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. In her last years, she would gently remind us to always count our blessings.
Family and friends will be received at the Christian Reformed Church, 11611 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on April 8, 2024, from 10:30 am until time of service in the church at 11:00 am. Lunch will be provided in the church hall immediately following the service. Private family Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Georgetown Bennett Center for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Resonate Global Mission would be appreciated.
