Wortley, Svend (Caledon Ski Club lifetime member and employee)

Passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 7, 2024. Svend, 67 years old was the cherished husband and soulmate of Jan Crowe. Beloved stepfather of Marcia Emily (Nathan), Taylor (Jennifer) and "Poppa" to baby Scarlett. Dear brother of Kip (Jessica) and Glen (Jeanne). Respected brother-in-law to Doug (Liana), Don (Rene) and Steve (Michele). Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Growing up at Caledon Ski club as part of the founding family, Svend's passion and dedication to the development of the club and its culture was unsurpassed. He exemplified the true spirit of the club in all his work, from snowmaking, grooming, patient transports, teaching, coaching and supporting members.

Svend was a renowned athlete who immensely enjoyed skiing, rowing, canoeing and kayaking. He was a small engine and glider pilot.

Svend will be forever remembered by his family and many friends as a very caring, loving and genuine person, but especially for his wonderful sense of humour. He modelled the true traits of humanity in his day to day interactions making friends with everyone he met.

Svend's courage and determination during his stroke recovery was phenomenal and beyond anyone's expectations. A special thank you to the many caregivers and professionals that supported us in our 9 year stroke recovery journey.
