Police investigating ‘suspicious’ package at Georgetown post office (UPDATED)

Update at 2 p.m.:

Halton Regional Police have completed their investigation at the Georgetown post office and report that nothing suspicious was located in the package.

The scene has now been cleared.

Halton Regional Police are on scene at the Georgetown post office to investigate the report of a “suspicious” package.

Police said on Friday morning (Aug. 18) shortly before 11 a.m. that their officers are securing the area around the Guelph Street office, and the Explosives Disposal Unit is also responding.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area.
