Police release new photo of man accused of assaulting Halton officer

If seen, do not approach and call 9-1-1, police advise

The Halton Regional Police Service has released a more recent photo of Matthew Flannigan, suspected of causing serious injury to an officer who was trying to make an arrest on July 22.

Police say Flannigan is wanted for multiple charges stemming from a traffic stop on July 22 on Plains Road East in Burlington. These charges include Assault Peace Officer Cause Bodily Harm and Dangerous Operation. 

If seen, do not approach Flannigan and contact police immediately. 

Anyone with information about Matthew Flannigan's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.

Halton Regional Police Service is searching for a suspect after an officer was seriously injured while trying to make an arrest early Saturday.

Police say the officer pulled a vehicle over on Plains Road East in Burlington.

There was a violent struggle, according to police, while the officer attempted to arrest a suspect under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The suspect took off at a high rate of speed.

The officer was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious, but non-life threatening. They’ve since been released.

Police are now looking for 31-year-old Matthew Flannigan.

He’s described as white, 5-foot-9, with brown, braided hair. He had been driving a blue 2021 Honda CRV with Ontario licence plate CVFS 405.

Anyone with information about Flannigan’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.
