Original Story:

Two suspects have been arrested following an overnight armed home invasion in Oakville.

Halton Police announced on X (formerly Twitter) this morning that they’re urging residents to avoid the area of Bronte Creek Provincial Park and issued a shelter-in-place as they searched for several suspects believed to be in possession of a firearm.

Halton Police have released the details now, confirming that they responded to a call reporting a home invasion in the area of Upper Middle Road and Third Line around midnight.

According to police, two suspects gained entry while the third waited in a vehicle outside the residence. Police say the suspects entered the home by breaking the glass on the front door, then confronted the homeowner while demanding money and jewellery.

Police say a black hand gun was seen and an occupant of the home was struck on the head before the suspects fled the area in a white BMW BX5 SUV.

The victim was transported to hospital with minor physical injuries.

Shortly after leaving the scene, officers say they saw the suspect vehicle on Upper Middle Road, where it made its way into Bronte Creek Provincial Park. There the suspect vehicle collided with a wooden post with the suspects attempting to flee on foot.

Dundas Street from the area of Colonel William Parkway up to Sutton Drive had cruisers securing the perimeter and there was a heavy police presence west of Bronte on Upper Middle Road West.

HRPS Tactical and K9 officers, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were deployed, with two suspects taken into custody after 2 a.m.

Multiple sources allege that one of the suspects was tasered and taken away in an ambulance.

The third suspect is currently outstanding. No description is currently available.

Investigation determined the white BMW to be stolen out of Toronto.

Halton Police lifted the shelter-in-place at approximately 4 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
