It’s said there’s strength in numbers.

That’s not a phrase usually applied to small business, but it does ring true. Small business owners often find themselves in a struggle against large corporate competition with superior numbers and financial resources. To compete successfully, small businesses often have to find additional resources of their own to help them maintain and grow their business.

That’s certainly been the case for Brooks Heating and Air, a well-known family owned and operated HVAC company. Recently, Brooks Heating and Air became a full-fledged member of ClimateCare, Canada’s largest network of independent heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems contractors. With over 30 similar 100 percent member owned companies working together in the cooperative, ClimateCare gives small businesses like Brooks Heating and Air the support and resources needed to compete in an ever-changing business environment.

“ClimateCare works with family-run, locally owned businesses to give us group buying power,” said Nathalie Brooks, co-owner of the company. “That allows us to pass along savings and incentives to our customers to compete with the big guys.”

According to Brooks, the partnership with ClimateCare will have little impact on the 12 staff members currently employed at the local HVAC company. However, membership in the cooperative gives Brooks access to exceptional training programs and administrative resources like a centrally located HR department and a health and safety department they would not have been able to afford given the volume of their annual business.

“We have 12 people and the company is still run by my husband and I,” said Brooks. “Many of them have been with us for many years. The staff stays the same, the name stays the same. All the branding stays the same. The only thing that really changes is what we will be able to offer our customers in terms of providing the best quality installations, product, repairs, and the best customer service around. As a ClimateCare member, we can offer 100 percent satisfaction guaranteed. If within one year of the installation date you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, we will remove and replace with equal value equipment or remove the equipment and credit you.”

Now entering its 15th year of operation, Brooks Heating and Air will remain a dealer of such top name HVAC equipment as Canadian-owned Napoleon products along with Daikin Comfort Pro, the largest HVAC company in the world. Brooks will also be continuing with its maintenance contract programs which allows its technicians to service almost all makes and models of HVAC equipment. With the government push away from natural gas products to efficient electric heat pumps units, having access to a professional HVAC company like Brooks is now more important than ever.

‘We’re really excited to be partnering with ClimateCare with over 30 other HVAC companies that are all owned by like-minded people supporting each other. They’re customer focused. We all treat our customers like family.”
