A self-taught artist from Halton Hills is showcasing her work in the city.

Kate Rogers has secured a featured placement at Artworks Gallery Guelph, where her collection The Space Between will be on display until July 7. A public opening reception is set for May 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.

"Drawing inspiration from common and relatable experiences growing up, Rogers explores the space between societal pressures and personal truths, boldly reclaiming often misunderstood and undervalued traits as superpowers," says a press release on the exhibit. "Each piece in her collection serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a celebration of the nuanced nature of individual identities."

A self-taught artist transitioning from a corporate career, Rogers says her latest collection showcases her dedication to honouring authentic expression and the new possibilities that arise as a result.

“I spent a large portion of my life following the safe path and second guessing who I was because it didn’t mesh with what I was told I was supposed to want,” she says. “Now, I follow the heart-sparks of what really lights me up and aim to inspire others to honour that within themselves too.”

Five other gallery members – Patti Collins, Nancy Farrell, Katherine Percival, Sharyn Seibert, and Suzanne Wakefield – also showcase work in the exhibition.
