The sweet sounds of the Georgetown Bach Chorale return this weekend with a concert focusing on the music of Handel and Vivaldi.

The chamber choir is set to perform complex double choruses on April 6 at 8 p.m. in St. John’s United Church.

The program will feature two soprano soloists (Angie Reichenbach and Nune Ananyan), a chamber orchestra and double choir.

In addition, attendees will be treated to Handel's most difficult choral work, Dixit Dominus.

Special guest tenor Marcel van Helden will perform an early opera aria by the same composer from his opera, Tamerlano.

“And, for the guitar enthusiasts of the world, you may be surprised to hear that it all began well before the likes of Eddie van Halen. Vivaldi wrote a wonderful lute concerto centuries ago,” says the Georgetown Bach Chorale in a press release.

“In this performance it will be played by guest American guitarist Patrick Anderson, together with harpsichord and chamber orchestra.”

Tickets cost $15 for students and $45 for adults. They can be purchased online at www.georgetownbachchorale.com, at Foodstuffs in downtown Georgetown, the Holland Shop in downtown Acton or by calling 905-873-9909.
