A church bazaar, community dinner and chamber choir concert are among the events happening in Halton Hills and the surrounding area this weekend

A community dinner will be held in Georgetown Friday evening.

FRIDAY

Free Community Dinner

April 5 at 6 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, Georgetown: The Rotary Club of Georgetown is hosting a free meal, with support from the church and Out of the Cold volunteers.

Everyone is welcome.

Poker Fundraiser

April 5 at 6:45 p.m. at the Optimist Hall, 13439 Hwy. 7, Halton Hills: Support the Optimist Club of Halton Hills with a fun evening of poker. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the game starts at 7:15 p.m., with an initial buy-in of $50. A light meal is included. There’ll also be a cash bar and prizes.

Safe Haven - A Conversation on Overcoming Domestic Violence

April 5 at 7 p.m. at the John Elliott Theatre, Georgetown: Author, award-winning speaker and survivor Samra Zafar is coming to Halton Hills to speak about intimate partner violence.

The event is being held in support of Halton Women's Place, in partnership with SAFE Halton, Halton Regional Police and the Canadian Federation of University Women Georgetown.

Awesome Stuff Sale

April 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Trinity United Church, Acton: The Awesome Stuff Sale will have the famous Trinity bake table, handmade crafts and local vendors. Raffle tickets will still be available for the seven-day trip to Barbados, with the winner being chosen at noon.

Learn, Play, Grow

April 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Halton Hills Public Library, Georgetown and Acton branches:  Drop in at your nearest library branch for Learn, Play, and Grow. A new theme is explored each week with activities that promote positive child development.

This drop-in program is geared to children up to age five and their caregivers.

Georgetown Bach Chorale Concert

April 6 at 8 p.m. at St. John’s United Church, Georgetown: The Georgetown Bach Chorale returns this weekend with a concert focusing on the music of Handel and Vivaldi.

Tickets cost $15 for students and $45 for adults. They can be purchased online at www.georgetownbachchorale.com, at Foodstuffs in downtown Georgetown, the Holland Shop in downtown Acton or by calling 905-873-9909.

Sap to Syrup - A Maple Making Experience

April 6 and 7 at Terra Cotta Conservation Area: Discover how to identify and tap sugar maple trees, collect sap and use an evaporator to make maple syrup. Learn how to measure the sugar content and grade maple syrup before preparing your own bottle of maple syrup to take home. The event is open to those 16 years old and up. Book a timeslot here.
