It's almost time to lace up those sneakers for a good cause.

The Townsend Smith Foundation is holding its seventh Hike for Hospice this Saturday (May 4) starting at 10 a.m. Participants can either walk individually or as a team and can choose from one of three routes in Georgetown, Acton and Milton.

The Georgetown hike will step off at Norval United Church, while Acton's route will travel from Wallace Park, and Milton's will loop around Milton Community Park.

The foundation is encouraging people to complete either a 2.5 or five-kilometre jaunt.

For the $25 registration fee, participants get a swag bag, a Hike for Hospice T-shirt and water on the day of the event.

The future hospice planned for north Halton will be located on the Hillcrest United Church property, at the corner of Trafalgar Road and 5 Sideroad in Halton Hills. It will be a 10-bed facility with 24-hour palliative care for adults with terminal conditions.

New hikers are still being accepted, so anyone who wants to take part can go to Townsend-Smith.ca to register or make a donation.
