If you’re looking for some local bargains, you might want to mark Saturday, May 4 on your calendar.
That’s the day of the Georgetown Garage Sale Extravaganza, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The initiative, being organized by local realtors Shelli Harrison and Shelly Williamson, is bringing together garage sales across the town to create a community event. A map is now available online so local bargain hunters can visit the participating sales. There will also be signage around town.
“As realtors, we’re always meeting people who have to declutter when they’re moving. We all have things, myself included, that we don’t use anymore,” Harrison said. “Rather than throwing it in the garbage, it’s a chance for someone else who could use it to buy it.”
She added, “People sell things on Facebook, but we thought this would be a chance to organize a day and make it a community event."
For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
