An iconic area in Rockwood will be serving as a backdrop for a popular CBC detective show.

A noise bylaw exemption request from Shaftesbury Murdoch XVI Inc. shows Murdoch Mysteries is looking to film exterior scenes at the Rockwood Conservation Area later in July.

A notification states the show will be filming July 20, 21, 22 and 24 including some night time filming as late as 2 a.m. within the conservation area. Preparation work is set to take place on July 17 to 19.

Production will be using two controlled fires in fire pits on site.

Vehicles and film equipment will be located on private property, Rockwood Centennial Public School and Valley Road.

Murdoch Mysteries has filmed nearby in the past in Cambridge and Guelph

The show follows a late-19th century Toronto detective with its 17th season scheduled to premiere in the fall.

Guelph/Eramosa council will consider the noise bylaw exemption at a meeting on Monday.
