Many women will wake up to breakfast in bed, flowers or even lavish gifts this Mother’s Day.
But some will wake up simply wanting a sense of safety – and not get it.
With that in mind, Halton Women’s Place is putting a call out for donations to help all the moms looking to escape abusive relationships.
Of those currently residing in its two shelters, more than half are mothers.
With each donation made to HWP before 4 p.m. today (May 10), a personalized e-card will be sent to your mother, grandmother, wife or that special woman in your life on Sunday.
Cards will be sent on Monday for contributions made after that time.
The campaign goal is $10,000.
“Together, we can give them the gift everyone deserves: freedom from fear, security for themselves and their children, and hope for a brighter future,” said a HWP release.
