Your Georgetown Raiders will be heavily represented at this year’s Ontario Junior Hockey League All-Star Celebration, happening January 12 and 13 in Collingwood.

Georgetown will have two representatives and an alternate participate in the 2024 OJHL Hudl-InStat Prospects game. Goaltender Finn Wilson and defenceman Justin Huynh have been named to the West Conference team for the game. As well, Raiders defenceman Niko Krmpotic has been named an alternate for the contest.

The Prospects game features the best 2006 and 2007-born players in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. So far this season, Justin Huynh, an ’06-born rookie on the squad, has played in 31 games, scoring three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. Huynh has really shown that he can handle the blue line and his role playing in the OJ this season, and is a very worthy candidate for the Prospects game.

Goaltender Finn Wilson, an ’06-born rookie as well, has played in 21 games this season, splitting the net with Raiders goalie Finn Marshall. Wilson has posted a 9-7-3-0 record in 21 games, good for a 2.69 GAA, a .920 SV percentage, and one shutout. Marshall has been impressive for the Raiders this season, and recently signed a OHL scholarship and development agreement with the London Knights. Wilson will look to keep the momentum rolling in the Prospects game.

Raiders forward Niko Krmpotic, an ’07-born rookie, was selected as an alternate defenceman for the game. Krmpotic has appeared in 35 games this season, amassing two goals and six assists so far. Krmpotic has been another steady addition to the blue line this season, and is poised to take an even bigger role in seasons to come. Krmpotic is deserving of this honour to be included in the festivities in Collingwood.

Moving into our Raiders All-Stars, three members of the team have been named representatives of Team West for the 2024 OJHL All-Star game.

Forward Quinn Tavares is Georgetown’s leading scorer this season with 44 points in 36 games played (1.22 points per game). He has also scored six goals on the power play this season. Tavares has a presence when on the ice and can break a game wide open using his incredible shot and speed. Coming off a 27-point-in-41-game effort in his first season with the Raiders, Tavares has taken off this year and become one of the Raiders' most valuable play makers. A nod to the All-Star Game is well deserved for #91.

Defenceman and Raiders captain Jack Guvenal was also named an All-Star for 23-24. Guvenal, in his third full season with the Raiders, has scored three goals and 25 assists, good for 28 points in 36 games played this season (0.78 PPG). Guvenal is a leader of this club, being named captain prior to this season.

He has a steady presence on the blue line and commanding the power play in excellent form. Guvenal is a local product from Georgetown, which brings extra significance to his captaincy and tenure with the Raiders. Guvenal has stepped into and excelled in his leadership role this season. Guvenal is a well-deserved member of the 2023-24 OJHL All-Star team.

Raiders defenceman Carson Lloyd was named an All-Star as well. Lloyd, coming off a recent appearance on Team Canada East in the 2023 World Junior A challenge, has scored 20 points in 18 games played with the Raiders this season. Lloyd played for Georgetown in 2021-22, appearing in 52 games and scoring 12 points.

After brief stints with the London Nationals and Hamilton Kilty B’s of the GOJHL, General Manager Mike Dukeshire reacquired Lloyd in a trade this season with Hamilton. Lloyd has proven to be an extremely valuable addition, immediately looking at home on the blue line and cementing his spot as a top dog on the team. Lloyd, an ’05-born defenceman, shows poise when on the ice and knows where to put himself for success. Being selected as an All-Star for 2023-24 is very deserving for the Toronto native.

We are beyond proud of all six of our Raiders who were recognized and will be taking part in events at the OJHL All-Star Celebration in Collingwood.
