25 MARCH, 1942 – 12 APRIL, 2023

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James Roland Bell at the age of 81 on April 12, 2023 after a long and courageous battle.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Caroline, his children Lori (Duane), Clifford (Karen) and Mary (Chris), his siblings Francis (Doug) and Joyce (Leon deceased), and his grandchildren Sarah, Brandon, Taylor, Rylea and Jessica.

He is predeceased by his brothers Lloyd and Gordon and his parents Roland and Florence (Carrins) Bell. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephew and many dear and long-time friends and neighbours.

James was known to his friends as Big Jim, and to his grandchildren as Papa. He was a farmer at heart and over the years that never changed, volunteering his time to work with horses at an early age. He was born in Omemee Ontario. As a young man, he worked in Lindsay where he met his wife Caroline on an elevator ride. They were married on July 27, 1968. Married for 54 years, it was a match made in heaven.

James and Caroline moved to Acton in 1976 and became very involved in the community. He has been an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch where they would enjoy meals with his friends.

He retired in 2001 after 38 years at Rockwell International in Milton where he prided himself on his years of service. In his retirement years Jim could be seen enjoying his riding mower while taking care of “cutting grass” for the Township.

Jim was a good friend, neighbour, father, grandfather and husband. He will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E., Acton on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 11a.m.- 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m.

Interment at Fairview Cemetery to follow.
