Peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 62, surrounded by his loving family who sustained him throughout his long and often times difficult illness. Devoted husband to Monique for 42 years, partners in everything. Proud father of Daniel (Erica) and Matthew (Brittney). Cherished “Poppa” of Hunter, Holly, Sebastian, Hannah and Magnus. He will be remembered by his many siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other extended family and friends.
Hendrik was born to Maria and Leendert on March 9, 1961, the second son of 9 children. Hendrik became a Tool & Die Maker and opened his own business as a young man. He was creative and innovative, he never shied away from difficult work. Challenges became opportunities he readily sought. He lived life well and was adored by his family.
With deep gratitude Hendrik received the Gift of Life in 2013. Although there were difficult times, he always endured with a positive attitude. During these 10 and a half years, he came to know and love all of his beautiful grandchildren, whom he adored and was so proud of. The family has the deepest gratitude to the donor family which gave the ultimate gift which made all this possible.
A private family burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Hendrik’s life on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at The Club of North Halton, 363 Maple Ave W, Georgetown.
