4 OCTOBER, 1933 – 24 DECEMBER, 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Ines Pupo (nee Albano) at Guelph General Hospital. She departed this world on December 24th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness, and humour. She passed away with her family by her side.

Ines was born on October 4th, 1933, in Sierra San Bruno, Italy to her loving parents, Rosaria and Guiseppe Albano – she was one of seven children. Ines left Italy at the age of 25 and landed in Huntsville, Ontario in 1958. That same year, she married the love of her life, Salvatore Pupo, on April 12th. They later relocated to Acton, Ontario, where they worked and continued to grow their family.

Ines was a seamstress by trade and was most happy behind a sewing machine. During her working years, she was employed by Neilsen’s Clothing, Superior Gloves, and Marzo Gloves. She loved the profession so much that even after her retirement, she started her own small business where she would tailor and sew her neighbour’s clothes.

Ines was always the life of the party. She had an infectious personality and was always smiling; she could make anyone laugh. She loved to sing, dance, bake, and spend time with her family/friends. Her generosity and compassion were unmatched – she welcomed anyone into her life and treated them like family. When relaxing at home, you could always find her watching her Italian Soap Operas – she could give you every detail of that week’s drama. She was devoted to her faith and spent her time attending St. Joseph’s Church in Acton and reading her Italian prayer books.

Ines will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure to know her and love her. She is predeceased by her parents and 5 of her siblings. She is survived by her husband, Salvatore Pupo, who she just celebrated 65 years of marriage with. She will be greatly missed by her brother Sam Albano (Teresa), her many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy, as well as her children, Michelina Conte (Antonio) and Joe Pupo (Jane). Ines Pupo will be forever remembered as the world’s best Nonna and Bis-Nonna to her grandchildren, Melissa, Marco (Nicole), Michael, Matthew, Eric, and her sweet great-grandchild, Mackenzie.

The void created by her departure is immeasurable, but we will find solace in reflecting on the memories of her life. She will be forever in our hearts.

The family will receive friends at Mackinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E., Acton on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 2 - 4 p.m and 7 - 9 p.m Prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Patron of Canada Parish 64 Church St E., Acton, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Guelph.

Those wishing to make memorial donations to honour Ines may do so to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
