1927 - 2022

On Wednesday June 22, 2022, Mona Lorraine (Hood) Schroder closed her eyes in peace and opened them to see Jesus. Everyone who knew Laurie will miss her prayerful love and care. She had a vivacious personality and a welcoming open attitude towards every person she met. She never met a stranger in need who did not become a friend indeed!

Laurie was born December 15, 1927, in Hudson Bay Junction, Saskatchewan. She had many life adventures before meeting Bill in February 1952. They were married Christmas Eve that year, and her dream of having six children began to be fulfilled. Laurie was a dedicated mother and treasured her children: Kim (Ron), Leslie, Tim (Laurel), Patti (Doug), Robin (Glen) and adopted son Danny Boy. She became a beloved Granny Goose (G.G.) to her fourteen grandchildren: Ken (Ann), Tim (Claire), Suesie (David), Katie (Daniel), Daniel (Cindy), Madie (Nat), Michael, Rylan (Alyssa), Cory, Jesse (Ana), Joanna, Jessica, Emily and Sophia. Her prayers were again answered with 16 great-grandchildren: Ollie, Loghan, Jannie, Patrick, PennyJo, Isabelle, Nathan, Wesley, Liam, JuneBug, Lovely, Marley, Byron, Bella, Maxx, and Kiera (soon to arrive). She will be remembered for her creative gifts, homemade costumes, chocolate eggs laid by the goose, and so much more fun.

She will be buried, beside her husband of 56 years and 5-year-old Danny Boy, at Regina Memorial Gardens in Regina, Saskatchewan on Wednesday July 6th at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ontario on Sunday August 21st at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Ethos Canada or Oasis Dufferin Community Centre would be appreciated.
