Police say an Acton resident has been arrested and charged in relation to a commercial fraud.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit - Commercial Fraud began investigating in October 2022 after police received a report of an employee misappropriating funds from a Waterloo business.

Through investigation, it was determined that the employee defrauded the business out of over $150,000, police said in a news release.

On Aug. 1, investigators arrested and charged a 54-year-old Acton man with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 11.
