Halton Regional Police have laid a slew of firearms charges following a single-vehicle collision in Norval early this morning (Aug. 5).
Police responded to the crash in the village around 2:30 a.m., when they say a white Chevrolet Corvette had hit a guardrail.
“Following a roadside investigation by officers, the lone male occupant was arrested for impaired driving,” police said in a press release.
“During the arrest of the driver, an unloaded Glock 22 .40 Caliber pistol was located and seized, along with a 31-round extended .40 caliber magazine with 16 loaded bullets.”
Shahroz Barber, 24, of Brampton was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Carry concealed weapon
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Careless use of firearm, weapon, ammunition
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence.
Barber was held for a bail hearing.
