Impaired driving charges laid in Acton, Georgetown on long weekend

The incidents stemmed from a traffic stop and citizen complaint

A pair of drivers is facing charges following two incidents on local roads over the long weekend.

On Sept. 2, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Queen Street and Churchill Road in Acton. As a result of an investigation, 66-year-old Sean McMullen of Erin was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80 mg or more, within two hours.

The same day, officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Park Avenue and Charles Street in Georgetown. As a result of an investigation, Jaime Howlett, 46, of Milton was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80 mg or more, within two hours.

Local residents are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
