Murder charges laid in death of former Georgetown woman

A man is facing second-degree murder charges following the death of a young woman who grew up in Georgetown.

Yesterday (July 31), Peel Regional Police arrested and charged 29-year-old Jordan Sanders in connection with the death of Pitch ‘Polly’ Phaunpa.

The 21-year-old woman was living in a Mississauga apartment and was found by police on July 20 when conducting a well-being check.

Police have ruled her death a homicide.

Phaunpa was a student at the Toronto Film School and is being remembered by friends and family as a sweet, loving woman who enjoyed drawing, listening to music and playing the guitar and violin.

“Polly will be forever remembered by her family as a very kind, caring, quiet, thoughtful and smart person,” wrote her family in an obituary.

The homicide investigation continues. Peel Regional Police are urging anyone with information to contact detectives at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205.
