Shots fired in Acton cornfield lead to firearms charges

Police say no injuries or damages were reported in relation to the incident

A Brampton man is facing multiple firearms-related charges following a recent incident on the outskirts of Acton.

On July 14 around 6:30 p.m., police responded to reports of multiple gunshots being fired in the area of Regional Road 25 and Davidson Drive.

Upon arrival, police say they located a male in a cornfield, with ammunition and a handgun also found in the vicinity and seized.

According to police, the man said his family owns the property he was found on.

Gurkirat Sandhu, 22, of Brampton was charged with:

  • Careless use of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Discharging firearm.

He was released on an undertaking.

Police say no injuries or damages were reported in relation to the incident.
