Stabbing in Georgetown leads to attempted murder charge

Police say the victim has been released from hospital and is recovering

Halton Regional Police have charged a woman with attempted murder following a recent stabbing in Georgetown.

Police were called to a residence on Mountainview Road North on Nov. 29 around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they say they located a victim with stab wounds, who was transported to hospital.

A 25-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with attempted murder.

“To protect the identity of the victim, police will not be identifying the accused,” said media relations officer Const. Ryan Anderson. “The accused and victim are known to one another.”

No further details have been provided on the age or gender of the victim, who police say has since been released from hospital and is recovering.
