Mississauga teen charged in series of burglaries in Halton, York and Peel

Police say earlier this month, seven Oakville homes were entered while residents slept, with vehicles, cash and valuables stolen

Halton Regional Police have made an arrest in relation to a series of night-time break and enters in Oakville and other nearby regions.

Between July 1 and July 11, police say seven Oakville residences in the area of Upper Middle Road and Eighth Line were broken into overnight while residents slept.

"Similar entries occurred in York Region and Peel," police said in a press release. "During the entries, six vehicles were stolen, along with cash and valuables from the residences."

As a result of the entries, “Project Haze” was initiated. This project was a Halton Regional Police Service-led partnered investigation with police in Peel and York regions.

On July 27, investigators located and arrested a suspect, who they say was observed operating a stolen vehicle in Scarborough. 

A Criminal Code search warrant was subsequently executed at a residence in Mississauga.  As a result of the search, stolen car keys, garage door openers, jewelry and other stolen property was recovered. Investigators also located a modified replica firearm during the search.

During the course of the investigation, seven stolen vehicles were recovered.

A 15-year-old female from Mississauga has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter (7 counts)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle (2 counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (2 counts)
  • Use of Credit Card Data
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
