Celebrate Earth Week 2023 in Halton Hills!

Saturday, April 22, 2023 marks the 53rd anniversary of Earth Day. Celebrate all week with activities that support a healthy and resilient Halton Hills.

Join the Town of Halton Hills for Earth Week (April 21-28) and take part in a ton of fun activities, both new and returning! Building on previous years' events and partnerships with local businesses and conservation authorities, the Town is offering a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages and interests.  22-Minute Makeover

Schools and businesses are encouraged to get outside and clean up around their property for 22 minutes on Friday, April 21, 2023. Register in advance for free bags and gloves at [email protected]Gloves for cleanup events are sponsored by Superior Glove (Acton location).

 Race to Net Zero Event

Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Acton Arena and Community Centre, join the Town and Your Green Homes for a free event to learn about actions you can take to reduce carbon emissions! This event raises awareness of real climate solutions, provides opportunities for residents to get involved, and showcases local businesses. Test drive an electric vehicle (EV), talk to EV owners, check out presentations from local home efficiency businesses and green organizations, stop by the used bike swap and more. Used Bike Swap

Join us for the annual Used Bike Swap, hosted by the Halton Hills Bike It Task Force as part of the Race to Net Zero event! Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Acton Arena and Community Centre. Take part in a great recycling initiative that gets used bikes and trikes into the hands of those who need them while also raising cash for our local food banks.  Community Cleanup

Go outside between April 21 and 28, 2023, to clean the community. Organizations, groups, families, and individuals are invited to form or join a group to clean up trails, parks, ravines, anywhere that can use it really! We will even pick up the trash when you’re finished! Participants are asked to register so that we don’t duplicate our cleanup efforts. Register with the Town by emailing cleanup@haltonhills.ca and to receive free bags and gloves.

 Tree Voucher Pilot Program

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the Town is launching a new Tree Voucher Pilot Program. The new program supports residents in planting more resilient, mature trees on their property, helping to increase the local tree canopy more effectively. Voucher can only be used one time, in-person, by Halton Hills residents only, maximum number of vouchers available in 2023 is 500, pilot program runs from April 26 to October 31, 2023.  Free Compost and Woodchips

The annual Compost and Woodchip Giveaway is Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Robert C. Austin Operations Centre (11620 Trafalgar Rd, Georgetown). Don’t forget your shovel and container to take away compost and woodchips. Food donations will also be accepted on site.
